The Library has 26 computers for public Internet
access. Nine are in the Adult Reference area, five in the Children's
Library, and twelve in the Technology Training Lab.
Internet Access: The Reference Department has 9 computers
with unfiltered Internet access. Use is limited to 30 minutes per
customer. Computers are available on a first come first serve basis.
Word Processing: The library has computers
with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft
Office Software available for public use.
Electronic Resources: The Irvington Public
Library subscribes to online databases. These include databases
of magazine articles (some full text, and some only abstracts);
encyclopedias and other reference sources; directories and business
resources, etc.
Computer Classes
The Reference Department offers free computer classes. Seating
arrangements are on first come, first served basis. There are 12
computers. Pick up a schedule at the reference desk.
The computer classes offered in the library's Technology Lab are
held weekly and are free of charge. Those interested in participating
are asked to sign up at the Reference Desk 15-30 minutes before
the start of the class. The instructor will call out your name
before class begins promptly at the appointed hour.
