100th Anniversary Centennial Gala

Centennial Gala and Brick Garden

The Irvington Public Library is celebrating its Centennial Year in 2015. The theme for a year-long celebration of events is “Serving with Excellence for 100 years”.

A series of Centennial celebratory events began Monday, March 2, 2015 when a community open house was held. Also, an Art Competition was held in conjunction with the Irvington Public Schools to commemorate the Centennial. The Library staff is preparing a pictorial history scrapbook of the Library that will be published and housed in the Library’s Local History Room.

 Gala Dinner Dance scheduled to be held on Friday September 18, 2015 from 6pm to 11pm at the Galloping Hill Caterers Crystal Room.

This will be an evening of Dining, Dance and Entertainment. A Centennial Celebratory Journal will be released and circulated at the Gala.

Several notable persons will be honored at the Gala including Dr. Thomas Panitch, Allan Siegel, Esq., Lorelei McConnell, Harry Perryman, The Legacy of the Honorable D. Bilal Beasley and Comcast. These individuals and agencies have contributed to the success of the Library over the years. The Centennial Committee is accepting journal advertisements and RSVP’s through August 21, 2015.

In addition to the Gala the Centennial Committee is inviting everyone to participate in the creation of the Library’s Centennial Brick Garden. Permanent engraved bricks will beautify the front of the Library and will replace one of three gardens currently located in front of the Library. Anyone may place an order for a 4” by 8” brick for $125.00 or an 8” by 8” for $250.00. Also, an order of an optional 3” by 3” Donor replica brick may be ordered for $25.00.

The Library’s Board of Trustees and Staff are inviting all residents of the community and “Library Lovers” to participate in these celebratory fundraising initiatives.

The Library has provided exceptional services to the residents of Irvington and its neighboring communities for one hundred years and will continue to serve the citizens of Irvington with pride.
