All residents and taxpayers of Irvington are eligible for a free library
membership. If you work or attend school in Irvington you are entitled
to the same library privileges as residents.
New and Replacement Library Cards
You may use your library card at the Irvington Public Library and Newark
Public Library and its branches. Cards must be renewed annually (proof
of residency is required). If your card is lost, a replacement of library
card is $2.00
ReBL Library Cards
Reciprocal Borrowing and Lending is an organization supporting reciprocal
borrowing among 25 libraries in Essex County. Patrons may apply for
a ReBL Card at their local library.

The library offers many events and services.
Kiddie's Avenue
Irvington Public Library offers various events for the children, such
as storytime and computer classes. See what's going on at Kiddie's

Electronic Resources
The library has public computers which are available. You can either
use them for Word Processing, educational programs, or to surf the Internet.
The library also has an online Public
Access Catalog, so you can view the holdings of the Irvington Public
Library and Newark Public Library and its branches.
Programs and Activities The following regular programs are offered: summer reading
program, concerts, poetry reading, lectures, holiday programs, and story

Additional Services
The library offers additional services such as a typewriter provided
for public use, coin-operated copy machines, and shut-in services for
homebound patrons in Irvington.
The Irvington Public Library Meeting Room may be reserved for public
